Centralised Mechanical Extract Ventilation (MEV)
Whole-Home Extraction for Modern Living
As homes become more airtight to meet energy efficiency standards, effective ventilation is essential to maintain healthy indoor air quality. Xpelair’s Centralised Mechanical Extract Ventilation (MEV) systems offer a smart, low-energy solution for continuous air extraction across multiple rooms, making it ideal for new builds and well ventilated homes.
What is Centralised MEV?
Centralised Mechanical Extract Ventilation (MEV) is a whole-dwelling ventilation system that continuously extracts stale, moist air from ‘wet’ rooms such as kitchens, bathrooms, and utility spaces. Operating at a low background rate with the ability to boost when needed, MEV systems help prevent condensation, mould, and poor air quality without the need for background ventilators in windows.
Why Choose Xpelair MEV?
Continuous, Balanced Extraction
Xpelair MEV systems maintain consistent airflow throughout the home, helping to remove humidity, odours, and airborne pollutants.
Low Energy, High Performance
With EC motor technology, Xpelair MEV units are designed to meet and exceed the requirements of Building Regulations.
Quiet Operation
Engineered for acoustic comfort, Xpelair MEV units operate quietly in the background, making them ideal for residential environments.
Flexible Control Options
Although units are designed to operate automatically, the airflow can be boosted manually via wall switches or Wireless RF control.
Multi-Point Domestic and Commercial Ventilation Unit
XPLUS 2AC
The Xplus 2 is a high performing central extract system designed to continuously extract stale, moist air from domestic kitchens, bathrooms and commercial wet rooms. The unit is primarily used in domestic applications but can also be used for commercial applications where continuous extract is required.
Low-Energy, Multi-Point Domestic and Commercial Ventilation Unit
XPLUS 2 EC & EC RF
Xplus 2 EC models boast all of the benefits that centralised extraction systems offer. This includes flexible siting, multiple spigot connections and high-performance extraction, as well as the added benefit of long-life, energy-efficient EC motors with backward curved impellers. This allows these units to be configured at install to match the required Part F extraction rates for the size and layout of the dwelling, ensuring that high-quality indoor air is maintained throughout.
Considerations for Installers and Specifiers
Compliant
Xpelair MEV systems are compliant with the latest UK ventilation standards meeting requirements of Building Regulations Part F and SAP Appendix Q.
Easy to install
The multi-spigot low-profile design offers the installer greater flexibility when choosing where to site the unit. The units are suitable for either horizontal or vertical installation.
Low maintenance
With accessible filters and components, maintaining Xpelair units comes with less complexity and hassle.
Improving EPC ratings
Using Xpelair MEV can contribute to better energy performance and help in achieving a higher EPC rating.
