Positive Input Ventilation (PIV)

Combat condensation, mould & poor air quality in your home

Indoor air quality (IAQ) is a growing concern in UK homes, where people spend up to 90% of their time indoors. With over 900 airborne pollutants potentially circulating inside and up to 50 times more pollution indoors than outdoors, maintaining clean, healthy air is essential. Poor IAQ can lead to respiratory issues, allergies, and even long-term health risks.

Where PIV comes in

By continuously supplying fresh, filtered air into your home and gently pushing out stale, moisture-laden air, PIV systems like Xpelair Everdri help reduce indoor pollutants, allergens, and humidity. This not only improves air quality but also helps prevent condensation and mould, ensuring a healthier, more comfortable living environment.

How does PIV work

PIV works by continually diluting, displacing, and replacing indoor air with filtered, low moisture-content external air from either the loft or an external source. This air is delivered to a central point in a property and, in turn, each room off this central point benefits. Everdri is adjustable, so the amount of ventilation they provide can be adjusted to the amount of moisture being produced or the size of the home. In the vast majority of existing homes, the air supplied by a PIV unit will exit via the myriad of small gaps in the building structure.

Why choose PIV for your home?

Improved air quality

Positive Input Ventilation (PIV) reduces surface condensation and reduces mould, improving overall air quality.

Heat redistribution

PIV redistributes accumulated warmer air from ceiling level, which can be 7˚C higher than ground level, to help reduce heating costs.

Energy saving

Xpealir's Everdri runs with a low watt EC motor to help reduce power consumption in the home, contributing to lower running costs.

Low maintenance

The EverDri units are low maintenance with an easy to replace, long-lasting G4 filter.

Everdri XEL

Xpelair Everdri is a whole-house ventilation control system for houses with a loft space. The unit gently ventilates the home from a central position on the landing or in the central hallway in a bungalow to transform a stagnant and stale atmosphere into a fresh, healthy and condensation-free environment.

Everdri XELH

XELH enjoys the same features as XEL but comes complete with a pre-heater which tempers the incoming air temperature. This helps to eliminate cold draughts coming back into the property, especially in the winter months.

Specifier and installer considerations

Radon level reduction

The Everdri PIV units gently supply fresh, filtered air into the property and forcing the potentially harmful Radon contaminated air out of the home.

Improving home heating

The XELH model helps reduce incoming drafty air by using a pre-heater to temper the incoming air.

Use in the home

Whilst it can be an effective method of ventilation, in many instances it must be considered as part of a ventilation system and not used in isolation.

Additional ventilators

Background ventilators will only be required in extraordinarily airtight homes. If in doubt about this, please seek specialist advice.
